Entry visa which is available online only, has 3 classes (V1 - entry visa, V2 - crew pass, VP - visitors pass). Depending on the class, the visa can be single or multiple entry. It is issued at any official point of entry in Rwanda.
Transit visa, valid 3 days.
Tourist visa issued by Rwandan Embassies and renewable at the Migration office. It has 11 different classes (T1 to T11). Validity and cost depends on the class of the visa
Temporary resident permits. These are divided into 19 classes. The cost and validity depends on the class.
Permanent resident permits. These are divided into six classes.
There are 3 classes of entry visas according to the new immigration and emigration law, V1, V2 and VP. The V1 class can be either single or multiple and is issued to foreigners who want to visit Rwanda for any purpose other than work and are not a citizens of Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Germany, Hong Kong, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Sweden, Tanzania, Uganda, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States of America and is valid for 90 days. V2 class is issued to crew members at the point of entry and valid for 72 hours. The Vp class is issued to East african citizens at any point of entry and is valid for six months.
There are 11 classes of tourist visa. These are: T1 - tourist, T2 - tourist, T3 - family, T4 - official diplomat, T6 - conference, T7 - business, T8 - medical treatment, T9 - group tourist, T10 - itinerant business person and T11- bridging. The validity and cost of the visa depend on the type of the visa.
Temporary resident are categorized according to the nature of the activity to be carried out by the applicant. Applicants may have up to 15 days from the time of arrival in the country to process their request. After that period, penalties will apply.
In addition to the listed requirements, the Director General of Immigration and Emigration may request the applicant to submit any other document when deemed necessary for more information and clarification.
