Getting electricity

A new investor desiring to get electricity for their business can obtain that service through the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) One Stop Center. A representative of Electricity, Water and Sanitary Authority (EWSA) at RDB's One Stop Center acts as a link between the investor and EWSA. The EWSA representative processes the request on the investor's behalf and arranges appointments for quotation and connection works.

Customers are classified either as premises (residential, public services and diplomatic services) or as industries. The distinction is based on the capacity needed.

In the "Premises" category are customers whose electricity connection is of a capacity between 220 and 250 volts.

Applications for electricity connection to premises from a registered investor may be made at RDB One Stop Center or directly to the relevant EWSA Antenna.

In the "Industries" category are customers whose electricity connection needs are of 15000 volts capacity or more.

Applications for electricity connection to industries from a registered investor may be made at RDB One Stop Center or directly to EWSA Kigali distribution Unit.
